Love actually is my favorite film which is a 2003 British Christmas-themed romantic comedy film written and directed by Richard Curtis. The film begins with a voiceover from David commenting that whenever he gets gloomy with the state of the world he thinks about the arrivals terminal at Heathrow Airport, and the pure uncomplicated love felt as friends and families welcome their arriving loved ones. David’s voiceover also relates that all the messages left by the people who died on the 9/11 planes were messages of love and not hate.
” Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrival’s gate at Heathrow airport. General opinion start to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed. But I don’t see that, seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there, fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriend, girlfriend, old friends. When the plane hit the Twin Tower,
as far as I know, none of the phone calls from people on board were messages of hate or revenge. They are all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling that
love actually is all around.”
The whole film’s color is warm and bright, one of my favorite part in this film is the end of the film. Everyone have their own ending, they all come to the airport, same scene but different set.
First one is the Billy Mack and Joe, finally the old rock and roll star got successful, the camera make Billy in the centre, and the light are bright like he is in a stage. Billy wears gorgeous coat and walk out of the door confidently.
But when the camera shot Harry and Mia, the director use the medium close up to show Mia’s facial expression, it is because they almost broken up and come back together. Use MCU can show character’s emotion clearly and perceptual intuition. Two different mood of ‘ I’m fine’ express Mia’s feeling.
Natalie is different with others, she is enthusiasm, passion and powerful, in the last scene she wears a red coat makes she become the colorful one in the airport. And do not have lots of dialogue, they just hug and kiss, what a wonderful things.
